Fire Prevention / Code Enforcement Division is headed by Deputy Chief / Fire Marshal. He is assisted by several other personnel who are state certified inspectors. The Fire Marshal also serves as a member of the City's Development Review Committee, which is responsible for reviewing plans of proposed new construction.
Existing building inspections are conducted by the Fire Marshal and shift personnel. Pre-fire plans are drawn of commercial and multi-family occupancies and are incorporated into response procedures.

Safety programs on a variety of subjects, including fire prevention, high-rise evacuation, hurricane safety and others are available through the Fire Marshal's Office.
