Commissioner's Corner

Is it just me? Or are many of you feeling we’re living in uncertain times. Is the COVID pandemic behind us? Is it still a                         threat? How do we really know? What should we do now? Cautiously try to go back to just forgetting about it? Our Federal                         Government is saying and has enacted vaccine mandates that say COVID is NOT over and those mandates are causing                                  some extenuating circumstances in our economy and workplaces. It’s not for me to defy, or recommend defiance of our federal government. If we have no other legal recourse, we are obligated to comply. I believe we are living in uncertain times.
We all are dealing with inflation on almost all of our personal expenditures. I have, and believe some of you have, cut back on some discretionary buying. Please try to patronize our local businesses whenever possible.
On a day-by-day basis, your city is running smoothly, all our current bills are paid and our capital projects are on-going without impedance. We are nearly fully staffed with competent employees. Please thank our City Manager for astutely handling the rudder to steer our city for these past five years.
We should probably just cautiously continue day-by-day and enjoy our upcoming Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years and other associated Holidays.
God Bless You all, take care and thank you for allowing me the honor of serving as your city commissioner. Please email me at skip.williams@cityofcocoabeach. Or call me at home 321-783-1850 with any questions or concerns.
