SAFETY NOTICE FOR MUCK DREDGING
The City of Cocoa Beach in conjunction with Brevard County is currently muck dredging six (6) canals in North Cocoa Beach (see map).
There are pipes in the water to facilitate the pumping of the muck to the Brightwaters Spoil Site. We urge ALL boaters in the area to exercise extreme caution when navigating around the dredge activity. You are advised to only travel through the active dredge area if absolutely necessary. The pipes are marked with caution buoys so please be aware. This is a dangerous area. The dredging is being done for the betterment of the waterways in Cocoa Beach. We realize it is inconvenience at times. We implore you to have patience and understanding. This will not be forever and the ultimate goal of a clean river is worth some minor inconveniences.
The contractor has manatee spotters and safety personnel there on the water at all times during dredging. Please listen to their commands. They are there for your safety.
