Commissioner’s Corner: Skip Williams
First, I want to welcome our newly elected
Mayor, Ben Malik, Commissioner Martinez and Karalyn Woulas. Each of them will be instrumental in leading and guiding the future of our city. I look forward to working alongside each of them, and with Commissioner Mike Miller to follow our City Charter’s direction “to further the interest of all citizens of Cocoa Beach in the establishment of a low-density residential and family-oriented resort community with paramount consideration given to the health, safety, welfare, comfort, and quality of life for all its citizens”.
As we approach the New Year, I know we all look forward to timely completion of the Minuteman Causeway Streetscape project along with the FDOT work to finish paving A1A and the sidewalk additions.
Also we need to move ahead with the ideas from the A1A Corridor study as proposed for Cocoa Beach. It’s imperative we continue to work with the FDOT to get our improvements into their five-year plan for funding consideration.
An important infrastructure project for the New Year is finalizing site plans for the partially budgeted replacements of the Police Station and City Hall, in conjunction with the CRA funded downtown Parking Garage. Only then can we finalize cost estimates and determine if we can proceed with the design/build phase.
Merry Christmas and have a Blessed New Year! Again, I thank you for the honor of serving as your commissioner. (Email firstname.lastname@example.org , skip williams, home phone is 783-1850)
