Update on Brightwaters and Kent Drive Area
The City is working with the affected residents and is in contact with them during the day and at night. We are trying to fix the problem as quick as possible. For those residents that want to know what is happening and why we are asking for water conservation throughout the City- there is too much inflow into the treatment plant because of the rains (5 inches in 48 hours) and the level of the Banana River. We have continuous pumps and staff onsite at the pumping station monitoring the inflows. By limiting laundry loads, dishwasher loads, showers and watering of lawns we can reduce the inflows. Pipes are also being checked for blockages. This problem was caused by Hurricane Irma, excessive rains after the hurricane and the rains we have been receiving in the last 48 hours. The City's focus at this time is on taking care of the residents affected. But all residents can help by conserving water.
This does not affect drinking water.
