Coffee with the City Manager

Every month Mr. McKnight has a "Coffee with the City Manager (1st Tuesday of the month at the Cocoa Beach Country Club 9:00am-10:00am plus once a quarter at night).
CITY MANAGER RESPONSES TO
QUESTIONS AT COFFEE ON AUGUST 7, 2018

Following each coffee (monthly), the City Manager will post answers to questions where additional information is to be shared with the citizens:

  • What is the current status of the dredging project south of Minutemen Causeway?

The dredging project to remove muck from canals is currently at canal No. 5 of 13 canals to be completed.  The center canal running east to west will also be dredged at the end of the project.  A slowdown was experienced recently to allow time for the muck holding area to be emptied before proceeding.  Expected completion of this part of the project is Summer,  2019.

  • Are there regulations regarding dumping of waste from boats?

Section 5-32 of the City of Cocoa  Beach Code makes it illegal to dump or deposit any material, trash, sewage, etc. into a canal or waterway in the city.

  • Who do I contact about asphalt striping on A1A (N. Atlantic Avenue) where you have two turn lanes eastbound on Minutemen to northbound A1A?

Contact the Florida Department of Transportation at 1-800-780-7102.

  • How do I report a street light out?

You can contact the Police Department non-emergency number at 321-868-3251.  However, a better alternative is to enter the location on the FPL website (with a pole number if possible) and this will allow you to obtain updates on the repair status.  The website is www.fpl.com/support/streetlight-single.html.

  •  What are the regulations regarding yard trash pick-up at my home?

All grass cuttings, leaves, small clippings and trimmings are to be placed in  receptacles not exceeding 40 gallon capacity and maximum weight is 50 pounds.  Other yard trash may be placed next to the containers but must not exceed 6 inch diameter, or 4 feet in length.  When these items are removed, there should be no expectation that Waste Management will sweep or rake up the leaves, twigs, etc. that may fall off during transfer to the truck.

All yard trash is to be placed behind the curb line, but never in the gutter or street!

  • How do I report a violation of the Dogs on the Beach Ordinance?

You can send an email to the Police Department or call the non-emergency number at
321-868-3251.

This is an informal meeting to chat with the City Manager - the public is always welcome!
