City Elections are coming up!


COMMISSION SEATS OPEN FOR THE 2018 ELECTION

The City of Cocoa Beach will be holding a General Election on November 6, 2018.
Two Commission Seats are up for election:
- Commissioner Seat #4
- Commissioner Seat #5
The term of each office is four years.


QUALIFYING PERIOD, PROCESS AND FEES

The 2018 Election Qualifying Period is: Noon to Noon, August 20 - 24, 2018.

To qualify to run for a Commission Seat, and appear on the November 6, 2018 ballot:

- Complete the Qualifying Forms
- Submit Qualifying Forms and Qualifying Fees to the City Clerk (2 South Orlando Avenue, Cocoa Beach, Florida Office Hours 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM) during the Qualifying Period.    
- Pay Qualifying Fees


CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

An applicant must be:
? a resident of the City
? a registered voter
? have continuously resided in the City for 1 year, immediately prior to filing for a seat.

POLLING PLACE CHANGE!


Brevard County Supervisor of Elections has changed one of Cocoa Beach's voting locations. If you normally voted at the Rec Center you now will vote at St. David's By the Sea Episcopal Church (600 S. 4th Street).
Additional information:
The City of Cocoa Beach ballot questions and candidates will not appear on the August 28, 2018 Primary Election ballot, but will be on the November 6, 2018 ballot. 

Early Voting for the August 28, 2018 Primary Election will be:

Saturday, August 18 through Saturday August 25, 2018
Sunday (August 19)  8:00am- 4:00pm
Monday - Friday  8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Saturday  8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Not all voting precincts are open for early voting.  Check the Supervisor of Elections website for open precincts: https://www.votebrevard.com/Election-Information/Early-Voting

There are only 9 Early Voting Sites open. The closest ones to Cocoa Beach are:

Kiwanis Island Park
951 Kiwanis Park Road
Merritt Island, FL

Canova Park Clubhouse

Indian Harbour Beach, FL

August 28, 2018 Election Day Tips:
The polls are open from 7 AM to 7 PM on Election Day.
If you are not sure whether you are registered to vote or eligible to vote in a particular election, contact the Brevard County Supervisor of Elections Office before Election Day or use their online voter status verification form.
On the August 28 and November 6, 2018 Election Days, the City of Cocoa Beach has 4 voting precincts. 
Please note: The location of Precinct 222 has changed from the Cocoa Beach Recreation Center, to St. David’s by the Sea Episcopal Church.  
  • 208 - Cocoa Beach Community Church - 126 S. Atlantic, Cocoa Beach
  • 215 - Church of Our Saviour - 5301 N. Atlantic Avenue, Cocoa Beach
  • 221 - Riverside Presbyterian Church - 3400 N. Atlantic Avenue, Cocoa Beach
  • 222 - Cocoa Beach Recreation Center  St. David's by the Sea Episcopal Church (changed in 2018) - 600 S. 4th Street, Cocoa Beach
Find out where you are assigned to vote before Election Day. Your voter information card has the name and address of your polling place.  Per Florida Statute 101.045, you must vote in the precinct of your legal residence.
