Fire Chief Ryan Duckworth

A Message from the Fire Chief

Hello, my name is Ryan Duckworth. I have worked for the City of Cocoa Beach Fire Department for the past seventeen years and served as the Fire Chief for the past eleven years. With the help of a Deputy Chief of Operations, Fire Marshal, EMS Division Chief and a Fire Support Administrator, we ensure that the citizens and visitors of Cocoa Beach receive high quality, effective emergency services from our 24 shift-based firefighters 24 hours a day. We are always available to answer any questions you may have or provide any assistance necessary.

Population & Response Area

The City of Cocoa Beach Fire Department (CBFD) serves approximately 3.5 square miles of residential and commercial area as well as providing basic fire protection for the "Thousand Islands" area adjacent to Cocoa Beach in the Banana River. The 3.5 square miles of land mass is unique in shape in that it is a barrier island approximately 6.5 miles in length and approximately 1.7 miles wide at it widest point. The CBFD serves a population of approximately 11,600 year-round residents as well as an influx of seasonal residents, tourists, and visitors which can increase the areas population to an average of 30,000 people a day during the tourist season.
