The Cocoa Beach Police Department K-9 Unit is comprised of officers and canines that receive hundreds of hours of initial training, as well as hundreds of hours of training annually to support the Police Department in its law enforcement operations. The K-9 teams specialize in locating missing persons, apprehending violent/felony offenders, searching for missing/hidden evidence, and detecting illicit drugs.
K-9s Hex and Indie were both born in Hungary, and came to Florida in 2022 where they were selected to be part of the K-9 Unit. They live at home with their respective handlers, and are beloved family members as well as co-workers. Hex and Indie are frequently around town interacting with the community when they are on duty, and love showing off their skills in exchange for a toy.
