Oyster Gabion Building Workshop
Saturday, May 14, 2022
Oyster Gabion Workshop May 14th 12:30pm - 3:00pm
Volunteers will cut gabion wire material, build gabion baskets and fill gabions with oyster shells.
Come help us construct plastic free structures that will become part of the living shoreline at McNabb Park. These structures will serve as areas for oysters to attach and grow, so that they can filter and clean the water in the Banana River Lagoon.
Volunteers must be 14yrs or older. Registration is required. Register on RecDesk for one of the three sessions. Space is limited!
Please be advised that volunteers will be working with materials that may damage your clothes, such as snagging clothing on gabion wire. Please dress appropriately and wear closed toed shoes. Work gloves and safety glasses will be provided, but volunteers may bring their own if desired.
Light snacks and refreshments will be provided. Please bring a reusable water bottle.
The workshop will take place at the Public Works Facility located at 1600 Minutemen Causeway. When you arrive, follow posted signage to the Oyster Workshop.
