SPECIAL CITY COMMISSION MEETING

There will be a Special Meeting of the Cocoa Beach City Commission tonight at 6:00 pm. Because of social distancing seating will be limited to 35. However, the meeting will be broadcasted on Spectrum channel 497, live streamed on the City's website and we will have a TV set up outside the Commission Room (west side of the building) with limited chairs spaced 6 feet apart.

The Commission welcomes your comments and questions but hope that you will watch the meeting at home. Social distancing is very important to not spread COVID-19.
The Special Meeting is to adopt an Emergency Declaration. An Emergency Declaration has already been adopted by the Federal, State, County and many local governments. This declaration is necessary to receive aid, reimbursement from COVID-19 expenses, and other situations that occur in emergencies.
The Commission will discuss all options available to them to protect the public health of citizens of Cocoa Beach.

From the Governor's office:
All bars and nightclubs must close at 5:00 pm today. Restaurants have the following protocol: Restaurants must limited seating by 50%, parties seated at tables must be at least 6 feet apart, restaurants must screen all employees for COVID-19, encourage takeout and delivery services. If you have a bar in your restaurant you must serve food when serving alcohol.

As you have read elsewhere the first presumptive positive case of coronavirus in Brevard County has been identified by the Florida Department of Health.

Additional information on whether the virus was travel-related, as well as the gender and age of the person infected, is not immediately available.
A schedule Special Meeting of the Cocoa Beach City Commission will be held tonight at 6:00 pm. Please either watch it on TV (Spectrum channel 497) or online (go to City website www.cityofcocoabeach.com) click on Agendas and Meetings to watch. The meeting is to approve an Emergency Declaration (the nation, state, county, and other local cities have adopted declarations).

At the close of business today the 19th Hole and Pool will be closed until further notice.

All Special Events in the City have been cancelled or postponed until April 19, 2020.
