BOARD POSITIONS OPEN

Currently, there are two Board vacancies.  The City is soliciting applications for the Land Management Committee and the Firefighters’ Pension Board.
The Land Management Committee meets at 6:00 p.m., 2nd Monday of each month, at City Hall, 2 S. Orlando Ave. Cocoa Beach, FL 32931. The Board’s mission is to develop Land Management Plans to manage land and programs, as requested by the City Commission.
The Firefighters’ Pension Board meets quarterly, late afternoons, at City Hall. The Cocoa Beach Firefighters' Pension Board is a fiduciary board.  The Board’s mission is to ensure that the fund maintains a stable and upward growth and to coordinate efforts with the Money Manager, Actuarial Firm, and the city government of Cocoa Beach. Form 1, State of Florida Financial Disclosure Form filing is required.
Residents must live within the City limits, and must complete a Board application. 

NOTICE
 

The City of Cocoa Beach is considering applying for a grant to the Florida Department of  Economic Opportunity (DEO) for a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for Disaster Recovery (DR) from Hurricane Irma, through the Rebuild Florida Infrastructure Repair Program. A total of $100,229,945 is being made available through a competitive application process to local governments located within the forty- eight (48) counties impacted by Hurricane Irma. Eligible applicants can submit project applications for a minimum of $500,000 per application.
 
These funds must be used for potential projects that meet the following threshold criteria:
 
1. Projects or programs must meet a CDBG-DR National Objective such as: Benefit to low-moderate-income individuals, Benefit to low-moderate-income areas, and address an urgent need.
 
2. Projects or programs must meet CDBG-DR Infrastructure Eligible Activities such as: Water and sewer facilities have been identified as areas of critical importance.  Emergency community shelters, demolition or rehabilitation of publicly or privately owner commercial or industrial buildings, and economic revitalization which includes any CDBG-DR eligible activity that demonstrably restores and improves some aspect of the local economy are also eligible activities.
 
3. Projects or programs must address a clear unmet need: Tied to the Hurricane Irma storm event, primarily serving low-to moderate-income (LMI) residential neighborhoods.
 
Project to be Undertaken by the City of Cocoa Beach: Slip-lining of four (4) miles the Gravity Sewer system in South Cocoa Beach and Unincorporated Brevard County, adjacent to the southern city limits.
