RE: NOTICE OF UPCOMING PUBLIC MEETING FOR CONVAIR COVE STORMWATER LID PROJECT
IF YOU LIVE IN THE CONVAIR COVE AREA, PLEASE TRY TO ATTEND THIS MEETING. Thursday, September 24 at 5:30pm in the Commission Room. Face coverings are required and social distancing will be practiced.
The City of Cocoa Beach is preparing to complete a Stormwater LID (low impact design) project on McNabb Parkway adjacent to your residence. This project will improve water quality in the lagoon and decrease the likelihood of flooding by capturing stormwater runoff before it goes into the canal. The existing asphalt will be removed and permeable pavers will be installed the full length of McNabb Parkway. The project will also include the creation of a bio-retention area at the north end of McNabb Parkway, and landscaping improvements at the south end of McNabb Parkway.
During construction, there will be a significant disruption to normal traffic patterns, especially for the residents that live on McNabb Parkway. While traffic impacts will be minimized as much as possible, please plan for some delays and/or intermittent lane closures during this time. We will work closely with you to provide as much information as possible in advance of the work. The construction is scheduled to begin around December 2020/January2021.
We would like to give residents the opportunity to come and learn more about the project from the design engineers and city staff. Therefore, a public information meeting regarding the Convair Cove Stormwater LID project will take place on Thursday, September 24th at 5:30pm in the City Commission room.
We hope to see you at this meeting and look forward to answering any questions about the project that you may have.
