Tropical Storm Update

Brevard is now under a Tropical Storm Watch (TS conditions possible next in the 48 hrs) and a Tropical Storm Warning (TS conditions likely in the next 36 hrs) is expected later today or early tomorrow morning. The expectations is that it will bring mostly wind and rain.
Please be careful and watch the news for new developments. The City will provide updates.
The wind field associated with Eta has expanded and is likely to impact the majority of Florida over the coming days.
Currently expected to intensify to a moderate/strong tropical storm before making landfall in South Florida, small possibility it reaches category 1 hurricane strength.
The current track has Eta traveling further north into South Florida before turning west and then staying closer to the Florida Peninsula when it turns north in the Gulf; all of which results in a slight increase to our expected impacts.
Initial timing estimates for period of strongest impacts: late afternoon Sunday through early Monday evening.
Winds 30-40 mph with gusts of 50-60mph in heaviest showers.
Rainfall projection 3-5 inches with heavy amounts in those areas that experience persistent rain bands.

Please watch local weather reports and the City will send updates as they become available.

Be safe and careful!
