Commissioner Williams

Commissioner's Corner: Skip Williams

Are you ready for some Good News? We broke ground a couple of weeks ago for our new replacement Police Headquarters. We’re bring our law enforcement facility up to today’s standards and beyond. As contracted, it will be a 25,400 square feet building, Tilt-wall construction,          with a new public safety communications tower and will meet our current storm water management standards. HJ High Construction Company is the Prime contractor with Harvard-Jolly for Architecture. Importantly, we will have a Secure "sally port" for transfer- ring alleged violators of our City, County, State or Federal laws into a holding cell, no more opening the Police car door and having them take off and having to chase them down again. The facility will be built to withstand 160 mph hurricane winds and will have a State-of-the-Art public communications center (911 Center).
I hope you’re getting over this election cycle no matter what side you supported. Also, there is still much uncertainty as to the future consequences of the on-going COVID-19 crisis. A vaccine is in the works, but please take all pertinent precautions for the health of your family, friends and loved ones.
Have a Blessed Thanksgiving, a Merry Christmas and may the New Year be favorable to all of us!
I’m thankful for the honor and opportunity to serve as your commissioner, please feel free to contact me, Skip. (Email skip.williams@cityofcocoabeach.com , my home phone is 321-783-1850).
