Life Saving Awards - Corporal Nick Ingersoll and Detective David Ortiz

Early Tuesday morning, June 28, at about 3:00 A.M., Cocoa Beach Police Detective David Ortiz was conducting a property check of Lori Wilson Park, which is closed to the public during the overnight hours, when he noticed a vehicle in the parking lot. Upon approach, Detective Ortiz noticed a woman, later determined to reside out-of-county, slumped over in the driver’s seat and immediately notified the Comm. Center. Corporal Nick Ingersoll subsequently arrived on-scene within seconds. Both were successful in saving the woman's life.

Congratulations Corporal Ingersoll and Detective Ortiz

On July 2, 2022 at about 5:50 P.M., Cocoa Beach Police Officers Emilio Rosa and Christie Bynum responded to the intersection SRA1A and SR520 regarding an unresponsive female slumped over at the wheel of her vehicle. Officers Rosa and Bynum determined that the woman had no pulse and was not breathing. Officers removed her from the vehicle and Officer Rosa began resuscitation efforts until regaining a pulse. Thanks to the actions of our first response personnel, to include our dispatchers in the 9-1-1 center, Comm.
