6AM Update | Increasing confidence for impacts across east central Florida from Hurricane Ian, with Tropical Storm force winds arriving as early as Tuesday night in squalls. Heavy rainfall before and during the event is expected. Rainfall accumulations of 2-4” prior to the event will increase flooding concerns area-wide. Residents and visitors should prepare for heavy rain, gusty winds, and possible tornadoes.

City Sand Distribution
The City has secured sand for Cocoa Beach Residents. The sand is located at the Cocoa Beach Country Club. Staff will direct residents towards the path for sand.

Prepare Now..... As we continue to track #Ian, we want to remind residents that this is not the time for trimming trees. If you have yard waste or trimmings that are waiting to be collected, please keep them away from storm drains and ditches. If debris is washed into storm drains by heavy rain, this can cause flooding.
Also look at other items in your yard that could become a potential hazard to you or your neighbors.
Look for items such as:
- Unsecured Chairs -Tables etc.
- Yard Ornaments
- Signage

Be advised that Waste Management has engaged its Hurricane Preparedness Protocol and we are closely watching Tropical Depression Nine.
