Hurricane Preparedness Week is your time to prepare for a potential land-falling tropical storm or hurricane. Are you ready? Follow the steps below, offered by the National Hurricane Center to find out.
- Determine your risk.
- Develop an evacuation plan.
- Get an insurance check-up.
- Get your disaster supplies.
- Strengthen your home.
- Identify trusted sources for information during a hurricane event.
- Complete your written hurricane plan.
All residents of Cocoa Beach live in a storm surge hurricane evacuation zone so make sure to develop a plan! Be sure to closely monitor information from Brevard County Emergency Management at http://www.brevardcounty.us/emergencymanagement/preparedness and sign up for CodeRed emergency notification to receive information on the go during hurricanes and evacuations, this is a free service that alerts via cell phone, landline, and or/email.
