Hurricane Idalia Recap
While Hurricane Idalia may not have directly hit Cocoa Beach, staff was fully prepared and ready to activate the Emergency Operation Center. The safety of the community came first, therefore we watched the storm closely and met daily.
As we move into prime hurricane season, it's important to continue to be prepared and ready to evacuate as needed. We are grateful that the city was spared this time, we used this opportunity to evaluate the operational procedures utilized for hurricanes. Staff is trained and on alert so when the time comes they are ready.

Reminders -
- Do not leave piles of debris by the road - Call for waste management or a bulk company to remove the piles before placing on the side of the road.
- Be ready now, have your kits prepared and ready. Don't wait until it's too late.
- Secure and run your generators now. Find a safe location for your generator that is away from your home and not near a window. Have a plan.
