Florida Department Of Transportation

MESSAGE FROM FDOT:

Safety upgrades at six northbound and six southbound pedestrian crossings along S.R. A1A, from Crescent Beach Drive to just south of Minutemen Causeway in Cocoa Beach are now active.

Improvements include 10 In-Roadway Warning Lights (IRWLs), and two Pedestrian Hybrid Beacons (PHBs) at First Street. Please review the map for exact locations.
Also, please be aware of the reduced speed limit of 30 mph, down from 35 mph, when driving through the project corridor.
For information about PHBs and how to use them visit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxQV_OXYd0w
The In-Roadway Warning Lights (IRWL) system activates when a pedestrian presses the button to cross. Embedded in the roadway, the lights flash to alert drivers while the pedestrian is crossing.
