Storm Prep Sunday:
Build Your Emergency Kit
Hey Neighbors,
We're back with our weekly Hurricane Prep check-in. This week, we are making sure your emergency kit is stocked and ready to go.
Whether you're staying in place or evacuating, a good kit can make a big difference in how you weather the storm.
Your 72-Hour Hurricane Kit Should Include:
- Bottled water (1 gallon per person, per day)
- Non-perishable food (enough for 3 days)
- Manual can opener
- Flashlights and extra batteries
- First aid kit
- Medications (7-day supply)
- Important documents (insurance, ID) in a waterproof bag
- Power banks and phone chargers
- Cash (ATMS and card readers may go down)
Tip from your Cocoa Beach Neighbor:
Pack like you're going camping for 3 days, with no electricity or wi-fi"

Last Week's Question:
Q: When does the County close bridges during a storm?
A: Bridges and causeways do not close for high wind speeds. BUT, when strong winds are in the area staying off roads and causeways is best for your safety. After the storm by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) for safety inspections.
This Week's Question:
What’s one item people often forget to include in their emergency kit?
(Hint: it’s not batteries… but your dog would definitely notice.)
We'll share the answer in next week's newsletter!
