Save Our Lagoon YARD DEBRIS CAUSES ALGAE BLOOMS
The City will start streetsweeping – which will keep the small debris like leaves out of the stormdrains - and out of our lagoon. This phenomenal amount of leaf debris in the curb causes major algae and bacterial blooms in the canals and lagoon. - The streetsweeper cannot pick up twigs larger than a few inches – please inspect the curbing in front of your home and remove any twigs/palm fronds as the sweeper will avoid these areas.
- If there are piles of leaves in the curb, please sweep them into your yard waste containers – the streetsweeper cannot pick up leaf piles.
- Park all vehicles in the driveway – there will be large trucks/streetsweeper going through the neighborhoods and parked cars will slowdown debris removal.
- Bagged leaves will not be picked up. Yard waste will be picked up in free standing piles or yard waste containers.
- DO NOT blow leaves into stormdrains.
