Storm Prep Sunday

Hey there, Neighbor!

This week, we’re recapping the month of July — when the ocean really starts to warm up and storms begin to brew. Throughout the month, we shared ways to stay informed with the City and offered tips on preparing for all kinds of storms, not just hurricanes. It’s easy to focus on hurricane season and forget that everyday storms can bring their own challenges too!

Week 1: Be Safe. Be Informed

Read July Week 1 CBNN

We kicked off July by focusing on how to stay informed during storm events. We’ll use available City communication channels to keep you updated, including:

  • CBNN (Cocoa Beach News Network)
  • Facebook – City of Cocoa Beach Facebook Page
  • X (formerly Twitter) @CocoaBeach_City

You will also see important updates on our forums from Brevard County Emergency Management and the National Weather Service.

Week 2: Lightning Safety 101

Read July Week 2 CBNN

We had a rainy summer here. We saw many tragic losses to lighting this year, we covered thunderstorms and how to stay safe. Remember: When the thunder roars, GO INDOORS!"

Week 3: This IS a Drill

Read July Week 3 CBNN

Week three we ran through a preview of what kinds of messages you can expect from us before, during, and after a storm passes through the area. You'll see updates from us on Facebook, X (formally known as Twitter), CBNN, and on our website.

Miss a message?

You can view all of our past CBNNs (including the our Storm Prep series) on the website at any time.

Let’s continue to stay safe and storm-ready, Cocoa Beach!
