Thanksgiving

Hey Neighbor,

It’s Thanksgiving time! By now you’ve either got the turkey prepped and the sides lined up—or you’ve secured that restaurant reservation and are ready to kick back and relax.

Cocoa Beach will be buzzing all weekend, so here are a few quick reminders:

  • City Hall will be closed Thursday and Friday for the holiday. We’ll be back Monday at 8:30 AM.

  • We’ve got lots happening around town: the Cookie Crawl, Turkey Trot 5K, Art Show, and the CBFD Chili Fest. Be safe and have fun out there!

  • No trash collection on Thanksgiving Day. Check holiday schedules at www.WMFloridaHoliday.com.

From the City of Cocoa Beach to you and your family — Happy Thanksgiving!

Protect Your Pipes from FOG This Thanksgiving

Hey Cocoa Beach! As you’re whipping up your holiday favorites, remember — fats, oils, and grease (FOG) don’t belong in your drain. When FOG cools, it hardens and can clog pipes, cause backups, and create big headaches.

Easy ways to help:

  • Wipe pots and pans before washing

  • Pour leftover grease into a can or jar, then toss it

  • Rinse dishes with cold water

A few quick steps = smooth pipes and a stress-free holiday.
Thanks for keeping Cocoa Beach flowing! Learn More about FOG.

Holiday Safety Tip from
Fire Chief Grimes

Good news — it’s not too late to defrost your turkey, especially if you’re planning to deep fry it! Before you fire up that fryer, our Cocoa Beach Fire Department has a few quick reminders:

  • Stay a safe distance from your home
  • Make sure your turkey is completely dry
  • Don’t overfill the pot
  • Make sure your oil is at the correct temperature
  • And if something does go sideways, call 911

And just a heads-up… our crew is busy perfecting their chili for Chili Fest this weekend — so please deep fry safely!

Have a safe and tasty Thanksgiving, Cocoa Beach!

Cocoa Beach Leftover Lifesavers!

Thanksgiving might be over, but the leftovers are still hangin’ ten in your fridge. Here’s how to keep things tasty and safe, CB-style:

Cool It, Beachside:
Get those leftovers into the fridge within 2 hours, no sunbathing on the counter.

Reheat ’Til It’s Surf-Steamy:
Warm everything to 165°F. If it’s not giving “hot sand on a July afternoon,” keep heating.

Leftover Glow-Ups:
Turn turkey into beach-day quesadillas, stuffing into pier-side waffles, or mashed potatoes into salty-air snack patties.

Shallow Like Low Tide:
Store food in shallow containers so it cools quick — no deep-sea fridge monsters.

If It’s Funky, Toss It:
If it smells like low tide… you know what to do.
