Commissioner Martinez

Ed Martinez

I am excited about the year ahead. The commission has approved proceeding with the design for the construction of a new City Hall, Police Department and parking structure. The site selection will allow us to make the best use of the space for the municipal buildings and much needed parking while creating a new green space area in our downtown. The new green space will not only be better for our environment but will also serve as a place for our community to gather and hold events.
In just a few weeks block 5 of the Minutemen Streetscape will be complete and soon after the entire project will be finished.  The project has hit a few bumps along the way but the end result will be worth it. I can already see some of the benefits of the project in our increased walkable spaces and area beautification.
The sustainability committee held its first meeting and an action plan for improving our environment is in the works.  This committee will begin work on projects such as Oyster gardening, Sea Grass bed re-nourishment, lagoon friendly lawn programs,  and energy- decreased fossil fuel usage to mention a few.  The projects will need collaboration with local organizations and residents alike. We must work together in order to restore our lagoon and decrease our impact on the environment.
I would like to say Thank You! I am honored to have the opportunity to serve you for the next 4 years. There is much work to be done and I look forward to working with you and getting much accomplished.
I encourage you to call or email me with your concerns and suggestions. I can be reached at 321-205-7521 and Thank You

Save our lagoon!
