torch run

On April 20, 2017 members of the Cocoa Beach Police Department will participate in the Law Enforcement Torch Run to raise awareness for Special Olympics. The Cocoa Beach leg of the run begins at 1:30 p.m. in the parking lot on the south side of McDonald’s (3920 N. Atlantic Ave.) and concludes at the Publix parking lot, Banana River Square Plaza (2005 N Atlantic Ave.).

The Law Enforcement Torch Run is the largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle for the Special Olympics. Law enforcement officers from around the country carry the Flame of Hope in honor of the Special Olympics athletes in their areas and around the world. Each year, over 5,000 officers carry the torch on a 1500 mile relay through 67 counties in Florida.

You can help support the Special Olympics Florida by purchasing this year’s Law Enforcement Torch Run commemorative t-shirt.

If you would like to participate or obtain more information, please contact Sergeant Hernandez at 321-868-3307.
