Above is the Florida East Coast Diamondback Terrapin (turtle). This turtle lives exclusively in brackish habitats like the Indian River Lagoon. It is easily identified by varied spotted pattern on its' skin. The purpose of the reporting is to identify the location of turtles and to assist in protecting them. The main threats to the turtles are loss of habitat, accidential drowning in crap traps and predation by animals such as raccoons.
