MAYOR'S FITNESS CHALLENGE


Thank you to the 335 people who signed up for Team Cocoa Beach! Please remember to record your minutes every Wednesday when you get the email from the event organizers. All exercise counts – surfing, skating, walking, yoga, biking. If you move, you count the minutes!

NROTC Champions

NROTC INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONS

The City of Cocoa Beach City Commission honored the Cocoa Beach Jr/Sr High School  JROTC Academic Team that placed first in an international academic competition.  The Commission also voted and approved to add this achievement to city entrance signs. This group will join Kelly Slater on the sign! The team is pictured with the Cocoa Beach City Commission.

 

BEACH RENOURISHMENT PROJECT

 Update on Beach Re-nourishment project: Great Lakes Dredge and Docks is again the contractor for beach re-nourishment this winter. Projected construction dates are January 25 through the end of March. Seven miles of the 9.4 mile North Reach (Port to Patrick) will get sand. It should cover all of Cocoa Beach except for the stretch from about the Hampton Inn to
2nd Street North.
 

COMMUNITY BREAKFAST BRUNCH
SUCCESS!

The first Community Breakfast Brunch at the 19th Hole was a HUGE success! Thank you to all who came out and had breakfast and enjoyed the wonderful amenities the Cocoa Beach Country Club has to offer.

 

Bike Sharing

BIKE SHARING IN COCOA BEACH

The City of Cocoa Beach welcomes Zagstar and bike sharing to Cocoa Beach! There will be 9 locations in Cocoa Beach. The pads for the bike racks are being poured at the following locations: Cocoa Beach Aquatic Center, in front of the Cocoa Beach Police Department, Tulip Lane, Lori Wilson Park, Fischer Park, The Courtyard by Marriott, Cocoa Beach Surf Company, Shepard Park and Best Western.
The Tourist Development Council (TDC) funded this program. Bikes should be available by the end of February.


PARKING GARAGE UPDATE

The Cocoa Beach City Commission voted to select Finfrock, Inc. to build the new parking garage in downtown Cocoa Beach. Finfrock, Inc. is located in Apopka and specializes in building parking structures.
As soon as the contract is negotiated a timeline will be published.
The project is a Design/Build and will have restrooms, showers, electric charging stations plus Parking Enforcement will be located in the structure.
