Strong low pressure is forecast to develop just off the New England coast Friday and slowly push southeast over the open western Atlantic this weekend. Large, long period northeast swells are forecast to begin impacting the Florida east coast on Saturday and continue through at least Tuesday. This will create high seas and large breaking waves along the beaches leading to dangerous surf conditions and beach erosion. A High Surf Advisory will likely be issued for much of this time period.
Potential Impacts:

  •  Seas will begin to build Saturday with breaking waves of 3 to 4 feet, building to 6 to 9 feet Sunday, then building further to 9 to 11 feet Sunday night through Tuesday.
  • High tides will occur between 9 and 11 am and again between 9 and 11 pm Saturday through Tuesday.
  • Wave heights are forecast to increase rapidly during Sunday, peaking Sunday night through Tuesday, then gradually subsiding Tuesday night and Wednesday
BE SAFE- the waves are going to be BIG!

This weekend only at the Pier, USA Surfing 18 and under Invitational is being held. These surfers are competing to qualify for the Olympics! Come out and watch them compete.
