RED TIDE UPDATE- Report from Brevard County Below
Water testing completed on Monday reflected no high elevations of red tide, just mediums. However, Tuesday evening Ocean Rescue reported the air irritant was far greater than previous and south beach areas were seeing more dead fish. KBB was contacted with a condition update.
Wednesday morning, the dead fish situation on south beaches appeared to have escalated overnight in the areas of Spessard Holland, Coconut Point, Juan Ponce de Leon in the South Beaches as well as Pelican and Hightower Parks in the Mid Reach. KBB teams and volunteers were deployed to multiple sites
Sign Installation has been completed for Central Area Beach Park access points and have been distributed to the cities and hotels for use at public access areas.
Volusia County has started sampling and sign posting as red tide has begun to show up there in low levels.
We continue to actively monitor putting eyes on target to ensure we stay ahead of the situation. We have seen tremendous coordination from across all County staff with a unified goal of informing, educating, and proactively cleaning our beaches.
