Applications are now being accepted for the 2019 Citizen's Academy, which begins on January 15, 2019. 

The Citizen's Academy is a look into the internal values, philosophy and operations of the City of Cocoa Beach Government, and is designed for City residents.  Classes run for thirteen (13) weeks on Tuesday evening, one (1) session a week for approximately three (3) hours each, and one (1) Saturday session.  Participants will gain knowledge and insight of each department through discussions, demonstrations and site visits to include a variety of topics and issues that pertain to the City of Cocoa Beach.

Interested applicants must submit completed application (see link below) in person to the Cocoa Beach Police Department, Police Records Division, 20 S. Orlando Avenue, Cocoa Beach, no later than December 6, 2018.  Once the class has been filled, applications will no longer be accepted.

Citizen's Academy is hosted by the Cocoa Beach Police Department.

Military Surf Festival 

Travis Strong, one of seven wounded war veterans who will be participating in the inaugural Military Surf Festival Sunday in Cocoa Beach.
Hosted by Beachside Media, the veterans will enjoy an all-expense paid weekend provided by Mambos Beachside Bar and Grill and the International Palms Resort. The City of Cocoa Beach is also a sponsor.      
The event, the idea of Ed Martinez, a Cocoa Beach city commissioner and business owner, and Craig Harriman, CEO of Beachside Media, both of whom are veterans, is one they hope will bring a positive experience to the participants through the healing power of the ocean.
The presenting sponsor, Jetson Surf Technology, will be providing revolutionary lithium-ion battery powered jet-propelled surfboards, designed to aid the veterans.

Surfing begins November 11, 8:00am-11:00am at International Palms.

Vacation Home registration

Effective January 1, 2019, the City of Cocoa Beach will initiate the registration of all Vacation Rental Units located within the single-family (RS-1) zoning district.  Registration is required regardless of the ownership type of the vacation rental (whether an individual, partnership, corporation, limited liability company, trust, or other entity.)
The initial registration period is from November 15, 2018 until January 31, 2019.  Vacation rentals located within the RS-a zoning district and not registered on or by January 31, 2019 are subject to fines as defined in Ordinance 1621.
